Frisco Car Insurance Quotes

Frisco combines newer, more expensive vehicles with some of the worst hail exposure in the metroplex. That is the combination carriers price most inconsistently, so comparing more than 56 insurance carriers and markets matters here.

Hail is the defining Frisco exposure

Collin and Denton counties take some of the most damaging spring hail in Texas, and Frisco sits right in it. Any honest conversation about Frisco auto insurance starts with comprehensive coverage, because comprehensive is the only part of the policy that pays for hail. Liability pays nothing toward your car and collision only applies when you hit something. The math in Frisco is unusual because the vehicles are newer and more expensive than the metro average. A hail-damaged hood, roof and windshield on a current SUV frequently runs well into five figures once sensor recalibration is included. That is a total loss threshold on some vehicles.
Two specifics worth knowing. Deductibles. Many drivers carry a 1,000 dollar comprehensive deductible without thinking about it. In hail country, the difference in premium between a 500 and a 1,000 deductible is often small enough that the lower one pays for itself in one storm. Garage credit. If the vehicle is genuinely garaged rather than parked in a driveway, some carriers rate that favorably. It is a question that frequently does not get asked. Across the 56-plus carriers we represent, hail exposure is priced very unevenly, and that is where the savings sit in Frisco.

Newer vehicles cost more to repair than you think

Frisco has one of the newest vehicle fleets in the metroplex, and modern repair economics have changed what collision and comprehensive should cost. Bumpers, mirrors and windshields now contain radar, cameras and sensors that must be recalibrated after replacement. A parking lot tap at Legacy West that used to be a 600 dollar bumper is now a 3,000 dollar repair with a calibration bill attached. EV battery packs are worse: minor underbody damage can total an otherwise repairable vehicle.
Carriers know this and they price it into physical damage coverage — but not uniformly, because they use different repair cost models. The spread between carriers on collision and comprehensive for a two-year-old SUV in Frisco is much wider than the spread on liability. Two coverages that are genuinely worth adding on a newer vehicle: Gap or loan/lease payoff. If you owe more than the car is worth and it is totaled, the carrier pays actual cash value and you owe the difference. On a new vehicle in the first two years this gap is often thousands of dollars. OEM parts endorsement. Some carriers will guarantee original manufacturer parts rather than aftermarket. On a newer vehicle that matters for both safety systems and resale.

Commuters, teen drivers and umbrella coverage

Most Frisco policies are built around a commute on the Dallas North Tollway, SH-121 Sam Rayburn, Preston Road or the Bush Turnpike. High-speed, high-density, and predictable rush hours.
That commute argues for real liability limits. Texas minimum is 30/60/25 and it is not a serious number on the Tollway. We generally recommend 100/300/100 or higher, and the incremental cost is usually small. For households with meaningful assets — which describes a lot of Frisco — a personal umbrella policy sitting above your auto and home liability is one of the least expensive protections available. A million dollars of additional liability commonly costs less per month than a streaming subscription bundle. It requires underlying limits at a certain level, which is another reason to move off state minimum. Teen drivers from Frisco ISD are the largest single premium increase most families see. The levers that matter: good student discount at a B average, a state-approved defensive driving course credited for about three years, which vehicle the teen is rated on, and distant student status if they go to college without a car. We work all four rather than just quoting the increase.

"Hail totaled my wife SUV and the sensor recalibration alone was thousands. Glad they had talked us into the lower comprehensive deductible the year before."

Frisco Car Insurance FAQs

How bad is hail exposure for Frisco vehicles?

It is the primary local risk. Collin and Denton counties take some of the most damaging spring hail in Texas. Hail is covered only by comprehensive coverage, and because Frisco vehicles are newer, a hail claim including windshield and sensor recalibration frequently runs into five figures.

Why is collision coverage more expensive on my newer SUV?

Modern bumpers, mirrors and windshields contain radar and camera systems that require recalibration after replacement, so a minor repair can cost several thousand dollars. Carriers use different repair cost models, which makes the spread between companies on physical damage coverage much wider than on liability.

Do I need gap coverage in Frisco?

If you owe more on the vehicle than it is worth, yes. In a total loss the carrier pays actual cash value and you owe the lender the difference, which on a new vehicle in the first two years is often thousands of dollars. Loan/lease payoff coverage is inexpensive relative to that exposure.

Is an umbrella policy worth it?

For a household with real assets, generally yes. A million dollars of liability sitting above your auto and home policies is one of the cheapest protections available. It does require your underlying auto liability to be at a certain level, which is another reason to move off the Texas minimum.
